For those of you who follow me on social media, then you know I have been kicking my tail for the MISS D.C. USA pageant in December. While I have been working out for quite some years, never have I seen such fast results. Wait, dare I admit, I had a snicker and Ben & Jerry’s this past weekend. Despite my sweet tooth problems, I have tricks no fitness instructor will tell you and ones you can certainly live by.
Well here they are…
1. Losing weight is mind over matter.
It’s interesting how much our mind plays tricks on us. Thinking things into existence really isn’t a new ideology. Just like life and death are in the power of the tongue, losing weight starts with your mind. The most important thing I changed was my desire to lose weight. I want it so bad that it has become my priority and is always on my mind. I don’t allow wavering thoughts to settle in, I finally believe without a shadow of doubt that I will reach my goal.
2. Purge negative stress and stressful people.
This one is extremely difficult to do because it can be emotionally daunting. However, just like negative thoughts, negative energy will not just stop you from losing weight but make you gain weight. I simply am not in the business of stress and stress eating. So in the name of a healthier you, get rid of people that don’t promote the lifestyle you want to live and cause you to stress. Most importantly, trust that God will work out the things that are stressing you and the people that stress you out need to hit the door.
3. Always ask yourself, “Is it worth it?”
If you really want to lose weight, you often have to say, “No is not worth it.” But there are times when you want to say yes and you SHOULD . In my opinion, you should say yes more than you say no. But in saying YES it’s worth it, that piece of cake had better be the best dang thang you’ve ever had. In my case, McDonalds (unless it’s the fries, yummy) is not worth it; a snicker is. Also, whether or not it’s worth it does not apply to your taste buds alone, you have to pay for that treat so don’t think you’re sleeping in Saturday morning. If you ate it, you better burn it!
4. Talk yourself out of giving up.
Working out seems to be the hardest part for many people. As for myself, I actually enjoy it and I work out twice a day Monday through Friday. But that does not mean I don’t get discourage. As a way of encouragement, I tell myself, “If killing this work out means you’ll win this pageant, show me how bad you want it.” You’d be surprised how much energy showers over me. When I am really disinterested, I look at pageant swim suit competitions and instantly I am like, what the heck am I doing wasting time! Losing weight is a solo journey so you have to be your best advocate.
5. Enjoy your results no matter how small they are.
You’re working so hard that you deserve to admire yourself. I take any opportunity I can to see my reflection be it a puddle of rain, oh I am looking! I am truly surprised by the hot body under all these layers of neglect. You should be proud too! Appreciate your journey and have a vodka water to celebrate or the next time you work out, do an extra brupee!
Now, eating clean and cardio are the true keys to weight lose but the tricks I’ve shard ensure you attain optimal results. I am committed to my goals for the pageant but I see a world of modeling and commercials ahead of me. Be willing to not just dream big but do big! Share this article with someone you know is struggling! If you need a work out partner consider someone you admire or even me!
