You have the power to control your destiny. Everyday we interact with people in conversation or in body language. Those interactions are not always conscious, it’s more of a speak or do now and think later approach. But it is no secret that what we say and do become our reality. The universe and God have some control, but we too control what we attract in our lives.
People will make comments such as, I want to be successful but cannot define, with detail and eloquence, what success looks like for them. Our they’ll simply say, I want it but I cant have it. You’re the narrator of your life and your job is to create the steps to your destiny. As the narrator, you are responsible for what you say. If you say you can’t, then you won’t.
The bible reads, in James 5 verse 3, “the tongue is also a small part of the body, but it can speak big things.” What are the big things you’re speaking into your life? Are they good or bad? Many of us fail to appreciate the power of the tongue. When an investor meets with a start-up entrepreneur, they are given a few minutes to pitch their idea, product or service. In many cases the prototype has not been produced and the investor is dependent on the words of the pitcher. A profitable pitch is met with a check and the entrepreneur’s dream becomes a reality.
It’s not just about the words but where the words originate. It all starts with the registry of the thoughts and ideas in our hearts. We give those ideas life when we speak them. Author Betty Eadie is quoted saying, “In our thoughts and words, we create our own weaknesses and our own strengths. Our limitations and joys begin in our hearts. We can always replace negative with positive.”
In our thoughts and words, we create our own weaknesses and our own strengths. Our limitations and joys begin in our hearts. We can always replace negative with positive.
Betty reiterates the most important point that your heart is where the work begins. If you do not love who you are, you are not in the position to speak for yourself. People who aren’t kind to others, are also not kind to themselves. Your are the brand ambassador for your life. You have to know your strengths and weaknesses to be able to speak for yourself and over others. A jealous, wicked heart still produces powerful words but the effects are only personally traumatizing.
Dr. Maya Angelou says about words that they can seep into the walls, every fabric in your home and, eventually, you. It’s unrealistic to “always” think before we speak. But you don’t have to when the heart is kind and pure. Just like lairs are consumed with remembering their lies, an honest soul can retrieve their thoughts later and make room for even bigger thoughts.
I’m just going to leave it here. In the beginning God created the world and the world was without form until he spoke it into existence. You are built in his likeness. You have to the power to speak over yourself, and call peace, prosperity and joy into your life.
