Many of you are impatiently waiting for that moment when the universe, God and opportunity collide to give you that “perfect” timing. It is often in this moment when purpose becomes a real thing. For those of you who have not experienced that clarity, you are still asking yourself, “is now the right timing? ” Some will say such a question is based on fear but it’s responsible human nature to want to make that decision.
What happens often is the desires of your heart is not portrayed in the life you currently live. That’s not your fault, it has everything to do with that colliding trilogy (universe, God and opportunity) having yet to happen. More importantly, you may not be ready for that perfect moment. Which reminds me of Teyana Taylor whose dance in Kanye West’s video“Fade” gave her the longest tabloid buzz of her career. This triple threat artist isn’t new to the scene with leading roles in movies and hot singles with artist like Chris Brown.
After going through a messy break up and a halted career, Taylor fell in love again, become a mother and her career is taking off. In a recent interview with Fader, Taylor comments on her journey saying: “Now, years later, for everything to be coming true that I hoped would come true? It’s just crazy to sit and talk about it again. It just goes to show that you have to keep cramming and never give up. You’re going to be frustrated, have your ups and downs, and you’ll have the time where you feel like things aren’t going your way. But when it’s your moment, it’s your moment. Kanye knew what he was doing…” You will reach that stage in your life as well, eventually.
So now what do you do? You still have to make decisions on what to do with your life all while remembering –to not make a decision is to make a decision. The least you can do is take control over your life and the stages you go through by trusting in yourself, the universe and God. Making the wrong decision is a huge possibilty but in the likes of Helen Keller, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”
You know what you need to do, the next question is how do you do it? You have to be realistic. Many wealthy investors and rich people tell entrepreneurs to focus on one service, one product, or one goal. In your life, it may equate to deciding if right now you want to have a career or family. This is when fear becomes your worst enemy. You say to yourself, if I do this then that won’t happen. You can’t have it all right now but someday you will. Stay focused on that overall goal but don’t let it be a deciding factor for the decisions you make now. Be assured tomorrow will worry about itself and you are only responsible for today. If spend more time thinking about what you have to do than actually getting it done, then stop doing that and do it.
As for myself, I was so set on getting a husband and a baby. In fact I was doing everything in my life to prepare myself for that journey and to be open-minded about the experience. I wasn’t expecting it to be easy but I wanted to be ready. Once my heart was set on the idea of finally getting that utopia of a family, my career life started to pick up drastically.I found myself having to choose between the desires of my heart and what the universe laid out for me.
I found myself having to choose between the desires of my heart and what the universe laid out for me.
My career could not be more important now that I am a full-time CEO and working to build my entertainment career. I’ve even decided to turn jet setting into a hobby. Trust me I’m not complaining. I’ve accepted that now is not the “right timing” for me to have a family. I will be more comfortable and enthusiastic to meet the demands having a family requires when my career is walking on four legs instead of one.
Likewise, in relationships without children comes the struggle of having to balance someone else’s desires with your own. I understand it maybe sad to see another year go by that you are not engaged or married. But you could also be running a multimillion dollar company you never dreamt of. While money can never replace having a significant other, it definitely will put you in a different dating bracket when you’re ready. As a bonus, you don’t have to go through the rough stages in some relationships where one person is taking off and the other has plateaued. For example, Bethenny Frankel found herself in a situation where she paid her estranged husband alimony and child support while he lived in a million dollar condo she purchased before him.
In a nutshell, everything happens at the right timing. Everything in life you’re praying for, everything you want to have, and everything you’ve dreamt has already been placed in order. Simply be cautious of the decisions that you make so that they follow the journey you want to take even if the steps are out of order to you. Lastly, it is absolutely, perfectly OK to focus solely on yourself in an effort to driving the purpose designed and divine for you. Your purpose is going to impact people in greater numbers then the people you will lose when you made each decision.
